Consistency

The key to health is consistency. How consistent have you been in February with your sleep schedule? How consistent have you been in February with your diet? What about your exercise? How many days in-a-row have you stuck to a morning routine and worked on your mindset? What about your connection with others? How many meaningful conversations did you have this past month with someone in your family? Streaks Streaks are a powerful tool that gamify the development of a habit. One of my mentors growing up challenged me to a 100-day streak of reading in the morning. I haven’t missed a day since. Those 100-days have now turned into 14 years. Imagine the effect a 14 year streak would have on your life. If you’re successful at keeping the streak alive, the habit that is developed turns into part of your identity. Conversely, what would the consequences be if you unintentionally had a non-productive streak? How would that affect your health, your financial situation, your education, or your family? That is why on Monday, March 1st, I’m challenging you to begin a streak with me. For the month of March, we’re going to go on a 31-day streak doing five things:

  1. Wake up at the same time every day.

  2. Finish eating at the same time every night.

  3. Work out for 30+ minutes.

  4. Don’t look at your phone for the first hour of the morning.

  5. Initiate a 10-minute conversation with someone else.

These five streaks coincide with the five factors of health: sleep, nutrition, exercise, mindset, and connection with others. This includes the weekends, so think through each item. You need to wake up on Sunday the same time you wake up on Monday. You need to stop eating on Saturday at the same time you stop eating on Tuesday. For clarification purposes, your workout can include a hike or a YouTube yoga routine. Just make it 30-minutes long. If you mess up, try again the next day. The only rule to the challenge is that you can’t miss two days in-a-row. If you do, the streak is broken. Let’s do this together. Tyler WOD In 10:00, accumulate as many push-ups as possible.
