Why Does RxFIT Exist

Why Does RxFIT Exist?

It was December 31, 2014. I was laying back in my bed in São Paulo, Brazil watching the fireworks go off in anticipation for the New Year.

Earlier that day I had written down three goals that I wanted to accomplish in 2015 – these were my New Year’s Resolutions. One of those resolutions was to play football at BYU when I got back home to the United States.

I arrived back home to more fireworks, but this time celebrating America’s Independence Day. Six months of the year had passed and I was ready to achieve this goal of playing football.

I started going back to the gym with my brothers so I could put some meat back on my stick figure. We went every day until I left for school at the end of August.

The night before football tryouts, I got nervous. Was I ready? I called my mom just to calm my nerves. Her advice: “Just give it your best effort. You’ve worked hard for this.”

Our Vision

Every morning I wake up inspired to create a world where individuals reach their goals because they know exactly what to do and how to do it.

This vision motivates me to get out of bed early when my body is screaming to hit snooze. This vision pushed me to think of creative ways to stay in business when COVID shut us down.  I’ve dedicated my life and professional career to this pursuit. All because of what happened that next morning at tryouts.

All because I didn’t make the team.

I was humiliated. The guys I went up against were stronger and faster than I was. I wasn’t good enough.

I put my cleats in my backpack and walked back home to my dorm. I waited until all of my roommates were out of the apartment before putting my stuff away – I didn’t want anyone to know where I was that morning. I skipped my classes and went to bed at 5:00 p.m.

Looking back on that moment, I was pathetic. I became paralyzed. I wish I would’ve used those feelings of disappointment as motivation to train harder. But instead of doing something about it, I let life pass away. I made excuses about why my life was better not on the football team.

Looking Back

Hindsight has thankfully given me some clarity. When I got home from Brazil, I thought I was doing everything right: I set a goal, put together plans, executed those plans by never missing a day, and then I went for it.

My mom’s advice that morning was right – I really worked hard for that tryout.

But I came up short. Something was missing.

I needed a coach. I needed a coach who could guide me to my goal – a coach who could show me exactly what to do and how to do it.

Our Mission

Because of moments like this, Mark and I have have created a business dedicated to guiding people to their goals.

We’re in the business of coaching.

We’re in the business of saying, “Follow my lead.”

We’re in the business of delivering results through 1-on-1 prescribed fitness.

Together Is Better

You and I probably aren’t much different. You have New Year’s Resolutions that require eating well and training hard.

Instead of making the BYU football team, maybe your goal is to finally lose the weight, get your first pull-up, or run your first marathon. Maybe you’re a competitor and you want to win a Spartan race or qualify for the CrossFit Games.

Regardless of the goal, this African proverb is applicable: “If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

If I were writing this letter to my 21-year-old self, I would ask myself this simple question: How bad do you want it? I believe my answer would have led me to a business like RxFIT.

For you, maybe the question is: How bad do you want to lose the weight

If you believe what we believe – namely, that goals are meant to be achieved, not pursued – then join us.

RxFIT exists so the 21-year-old Tyler Welch makes the football team.

RxFIT exists so the 300 pound Chris Pavlus drops below 200 pounds.

RxFIT exists so the Professional Spartan Racer Zach Jarvis finishes on the podium.

RxFIT exists so the father-of-five Paul Gonzalez survives a heart attack in the middle of the night.

RxFIT exists so the mother-of-three Miranda Merrell goes from 0 pull-ups to 30 pull-ups by her 30th birthday.

RxFIT exists to fix the herniated discs in Brandon Judd’s back so he can go wakeboarding with his kids.

RxFIT exists to pull [name removed] out of depression and prevent suicide.

The list goes on.

RxFIT exists for you.

It’s Your Turn

Alone, anything is possible. Good or bad.

Let’s do this, together.
